This is a fun movie steming make the Ranma 1/2 series. I found this movie to be the better of the two Ranma 1/2 films. The narrative has a suitable region filled with comedy and action in the honest moments. It does require some previous knowlege of the characters prior to viewing, but that is easly rectified by taking advantage of the DVD’s options. Also, for a DVD movie, this is broad! The sound in the English track is digitaly remastered so it sounds ample. No widescreen. There is also a ton of extra features. Inculding a fun Adore Chart which displays which movie characters treasure, abominate and are rivals of each ohther with a film clip. A must have for all Anime fans.

Between the two Ranma 1/2 movies that are out, the second one (this one) is the funniest one yet! Ranma and the gang (including all the Tendos, Genma, Shampoo, Cologne, Happosai, Ryoga, Moose, Kuno, etc) are all stuck on this island during a nice summer day. At first everyone was enjoying themselves playing in the sand and water when Kazumi disappears! At first they didn’t deem anything of it until she never came attend… so the search began. When everyone began splitting up to search for her, all the women slowly one by one disappeared leaving nothing but a peach where they once stood. So how do they try to rep the kidnappers??? Well expend Ranma’s girl perform at bait of course! So they tie Ranma up against a tree and douse him with cool water! He is kicking and screaming hating everyone until something unusual happens. A blackhole like figure creeps to him and tries to bewitch him away. Ranma then unmasks these creepy figures to bag a monkey-man, bird-man, and a dog-man. When Ranma tries to attack, their leader (this very young kid) somehow beats Ranma up without Ranma having left a note effect on him (We later derive out that, that kid veteran illusions to beat Ranma) . This kid had something special with him though. He had this water which would turn anyone into a man.

Well so they watch towards the situation that kid ran off to and they gape an island nearby. So they all bag on a boat (Kuno’s boat) and go off to the island. Ranma then disguises himself as a women and gets in. He then is told to fetch ready for a ceremony so he goes to buy out a gown. Afterwards, he is escorted into this substantial large ballroom filled with many, many women. Ranma finds the missing women from his group and is told about why they are there. That kid named Toma (a prince of this island) is looking for a bride so they kidnapped every girl from the surrounding islands.

This was a martial arts contest to stare which girl was the best. The winner would become Toma’s bride. Ranma wanting that jug of water (the water that turns anyone into a man) so he agreed to enter the competition. Ranma of course did very well but the prince was not amused. When Akane realized that the women were nothing more than conventional for his (Toma’s) entertainment, she went over and gave him a obedient slap across his face. There she lectures him on how horrible and unpleasant he was in front of everyone. There Prince Toma chooses Akane as his wife. Ranma of course comes to try to discontinuance Toma (in the infamous intention) . He tells Toma that Akane is a tomboy, can’t cook, has no figure, but the girl Ranma’s got all that so reconsider! Akane of course beats up Ranam and then runs away with Toma. Toma and Akane go to his private room and talk. Toma tells Akane that this island was cursed with the water that turns anyone into a man, therefore, men must behold beyond their island for a bride.

Meanwhile, Ranma’s gang started running around looking for the others. They ran into people, faught, ran, etc. Very hilarious! You gain to view everyone fight (Genma, Ryoga, Moose, Kuno, Mr. Tendo) .

Ranma of course comes running in looking for Toma, Toma then uses his illusions to injure Ranma… how will Ranma defeat Toma’s illusions? Will Ranma be able to secure some of that water? Will everyone earn out safely? Will Ranma content Akane how considerable he cares for her????? All to be revealed….

There are a lot of hilarious moments and crazy stunts. This is the perfect dvd for any Ranma fan or not (yet) . I would strongly allege buying this tall movie! I hope this review has helped in anyway… thanks for reading!

One of the commercial reviews for this film said that it was the performance of his career for Jeff Daniels and I would have to agree. As Bernard Berkman, a formerly successful and illustrious writer–but now having serious pains with his career–Daniels nails it perfectly. He’s arrogant, pompous–a actual prig. He blames everyone (mostly his wife) for the collapse of his marriage but himself. His older son, Walt, played in an astonishingly respectable performance by Jesse Eisenberg, at first sides with his dad, then realizes how callous his father really is.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Squid and the Whale! Click Here

At the same time, his mother–Laura Linney in another gargantuan performance (here’s an actress who can do no wrong; there isn’t one film she’s in where she turns in a unpleasant performance) –is not only besting her husband in the literary game (she receives a leer from a major publisher of their forthcoming publication of her first new), but also has her husband drawl her ancient four-year affair with the father of one of Walt’s classmates and is currently taking up with Ivan, the smug, smarmy but nevertheless relatively good-hearted (and younger) tennis instructor played by William Baldwin, Alec’s brother.

So neither parent is perfect. Not by a long shot. What’a a teenager to do? Not only Walt, but Frank, Walt’s younger brother, is also dramatically impacted by this rancorous marital discord, in bizarre ways that should be seen to be believed. Both boys act out their mountainous frustration, rage, and general malaise in ways that portray directly to sexual/relationship dysfunction, mirroring their parents’ problems.

At the same time there is a expansive dollop of sad humor here, revealing the smarts and humor of the writer-director, Noah Baumbach (the co-writer of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Wes Anderson’s film; Anderson co-produced The Squid and the Whale) . The ending is a fitting tribute to the title of the film which refers, perhaps, to the couple themselves…or maybe to something else?

This is an intelligently written, terrifically acted film with not one poor line or one abominable performance. One of the best American films of the year so far. Highly recommended.

The Squid and the Whale is one of the more poetic and well conceived movies I have seen in a while. The shining intertwining of the different character’s stories is well done and gives an overall “realistic” atmosphere that seems so hard to effect in film (including documentaries) . The fluid transitions of humor, jealousy, fantasy, forgiveness, and growth flesh out the chronicle as a truly classic tragic comedy.

Jeff Daniels and Laura Linney both do an astounding job of bringing out all the irony and contradictions of their characters. Egocentric to the point of ridiculousness and desperately needing approval; they both push and pull at each-other and their children creating a very mighty ebb and bound of humor, hope and failure. Because of this breakdown the children judge, remark, and attempt to adjust to their parents distress sometimes with painful results.

The soundtrack is quirky and always fits in nicely with the narrative. There’s a fine mix of well know musicians like Lou Reed and Pink Floyd with top notch but relatively unknown musicians like Pentangle’s Bert Jansch or The Feelies. I like that the movie takes spot in the early 80’s but the filmmaker didn’t go with certain choices or with music unbiased from that time.

What really shines the most in this movie is the writing. There are so many well expressed dimensions about the complications of relationships, and so many hidden gems of humor and insight that it provokes thoughtfulness and laughter (sometimes at the same time) . Bright.

So far most people reviewing this film are magnificent distinguished picking out its flaws, which are many indeed, so I won’t bother re-listing them. I will say this though; Bruno Mattei’s blatant and shameless ripping off of Goblin’s Dawn of the Tedious and Alien Contamination soundtracks would have certainly made Edward D. Wood Jr. proud. From reading the reviews I was prepared for the worst when I purchased this dvd. I was actually surprised that it was better than most people seem to give it credit for! Positive it has an amazingly inept “Ed Wood-ian” sort of quality… ok yes, it IS in fact a dreadful film, but it does have a lot going for it. #1 – The entertainment value. Like Ed Wood’s “classics” this film remains totally savory and even has a positive lovable quality despite the fact that it’s such an unpleasant film. It’s lots of fun and there’s never a uninteresting moment.

#2 – There are some truly effective Zombie sequences. The scenes keen the zombie priest at the mission, the zombie kid coming to life in his fathers arms, the expressionless native coming to life after his “funeral ceremony”. Also the zombie hag with a cat inexplicably ripping out through her stomach made me laugh. It made no sense, but it was level-headed icy. #3 – Last but not least, the gore. As the producers said, without blood and entrails, a film like this would be pointless. This film will accomplish your stomach turn. It goes far beyond Dawn of the Humdrum as far as blood and guts. Even farther than Lucio Fulci’s Zombie. The gore is probably not as disturbing as in Day of the Humdrum because Tom Savini’s fx were objective so realistic in that one. However the expend of precise raw meat and pig guts definitely helped “Hell” live up to the splatter genre and then some. The grievous close-ups of maggots crawling through rotting flesh and a native picking them off and eating them were absolutely horrible! Also there are some well done exploding zombie heads. The zombie attack and gut munching scenes are hit or miss. Sometimes they approach off as startlingly realistic, other times they are obviously fraudulent. But this film doesn’t skimp on the blood and guts. Also towards the extinguish, there’s a facial “violation” scene that rivals Fulci’s “splinter through the gape” sequence.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Hell of the Living Dead! Click Here

Overall, if you’re looking for Zombie crème de la crème, stick to Romero and Fulci, but if you’re honest in the mood for something immoral and fun, check “Hell” out.

This movie is a classic! Tubby of wonderfully cheesy diologue, extremely gory special effects, contaminated editing, dreadful dubbing, and hilarious melodrama, this movie is a high-point in terrible zombie film history. It’s like “Dawn of the Plain” meets “The Gods Must Be Crazy”, complete with out of residence stock footage that doesn’t even match the quality of the staunch film…you’ve gotta like it! The poster art bears a striking resemblance to Fulci’s “Gates of Hell” ( I believe that might actually be the same zombie) . There are 2 classic vomiting scenes which I laughed so hard at I replayed again for a second laugh. The gore in this movie is so over-the-top and some of it is actually shown in the stock footage. Even the make-up on the living plain is inconsistant. The majority of this film takes plot on an island, which adds to the fun. Lots of stock footage of exact tribes dancing in their native dress (these scenes have been edited into the movie to effect you actually acquire that the cast is witnessing this) . The two main actors search for so grand alike that at times it looks as though the same actor is playing 2 parts. Gratuitous nudity is also fervent when the female lead sheads her clothing and dons herself with tribal art to fit in with the natives. Unfortunately, she puts it on her face so badly it makes her peep almost dog-like. I’m a tremendous fan of zombie and cannibal movies and am giving this movie ***** for it’s campy entertainment value, unintentional humor, over-the-top gore sequences, and the fact that there actually ARE zombies in this movie. I watched it alone for the first time to spare myself the embarrassment of having wasted money on such a listless film (like I did with the dreadfully stupid, unfunny and zombieless “Cannibal Apocalypse”), but now I am going to have to part this one with friends. Yes, this is a terrible film, but there’s never a expressionless moment here.

As a parent who has to gaze what his kid is watching, I grew fond of the new stories narrated by Ringo Starr and George Carlin. Their readings and characterizations, the technical assert of the stories, and the sure characters of the engines build TV-time bearable. These recent stories lack the charm of the archaic, the narrator is bland, and the blatant moralising is annoying. It’s Barney on Rails. I can honest hear the marketing executives wondering how they can compose the Thomas franchise more delicious for as wide an audience as possible. Some of the engines also act differently from their established personae–Thomas has never shown worthy of an interest in transporting children (unlike Trevor the Traction Engine), but in the first anecdote he suffers tall dread because the other engines score to consume children to the beach, but he is stuck transporting ice cream components. Gone also is the broken-down Thomas theme, replaced with a unique bubble-gummy section of music.

That said, my two-year-old likes this DVD. He’s not as valuable as his parents, I guess. The trains have been rendered more three dimensional using computer effects, which is mighty easier on the peruse then the worn tapes. It takes a helpful two minutes to finally regain to the anecdote menu and lift a anecdote.

After “Steamies Vs Diesels” I was a bit skittish about approaching this DVD, but I really enjoyed it. On “Steamies Vs Diesels,” the unique camera work made everything behold tedious unique, but on this DVD it gives the series a more realistic gaze. The current composer’s music has improved, and the get for the DVD is sparkling.

As for the episodes themselves, “You Can Do It Toby” and “Edward the Stout” are probably the best of the lot. “Too Hot for Thomas,” “Percy and the Magic Carpet” and “Gordon Takes Charge” are handsome superior too. “Emily’s Adventure” and “James Goes Too Far,” however, are let down by the sure “ask politely” and “support your friends” morals rampaging through them.

As far as the narration goes, Michael Brandon does an obliging job as usual. One complaint though is that Mr Brandon is rather inconsistent with his voices. Some of his characters sound different with every line they state, and others sound different from episode to episode. I screech the other elements of the narration overlook this, but what’s the point of giving individual voices if you aren’t going to be consistent with them?

Overall, a very estimable DVD. Serene lacking something, but a big improvement on the previous batch of HIT-produced episodes.

This could be the most stunning, recent, romantic movie ever made. Every bit of dialogue is sung (but there are no “musical” numbers), and it’s filmed in Shiny pastels, beautifully restored in this print (the film was originally released in 1964, and was the Cannes Film Festival Expansive Prize winner) . In French, with English subtitles, Letterbox (1.66:1, so it looks dazzling even on a tiny TV) . Young girl (Catherine Deneuve, gorgeous in her first film) who works for her mother in an umbrella shop, “Les Parapluies de Cherbourg” – hence the title – and young garage mechanic (Nino Castelnuovo) philosophize their undying fancy for one another, he goes off to war, she finds herself pregnant, and she must compose some decisions which will forever affect the lives of at least four people. Underneath its delicate and lighthearted glance and feel is a very serious and consuming legend. The entire word-for-word/song-for-song soundtrack/dialogue is also available on 2 audio CDs – Les Parapluies de Cherbourg – Sony ISBN 7464626782. Directed by Jacques Demy, music by Michel Legrand. Several of the musical themes have entered into the cultural consciousness, and if you’ve never seen this movie before, when you spy it you may experience a superb sense of recognition, i.e., “So that’s where that song came from!” You’ll appreciate it! END

There really isn’t another film quite like THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG. For instance, every line of dialogue in the movie is sung, yet apart from the heartbreakingly sparkling “I Will Wait for You,” there are no songs. So, is it a musical? In obtain it seems more like an operetta. Musically, the dialogue is loosely organized, though clear musical themes are repeated often, and it lightly sung, none of the performers coming across as highly trained professional singers. Overall, the music, despite the presence of only one song, is entrancing.

As delicate as the music is, I actually found the film to be more riveting on a purely visual level. For instance, inn scene after scene, I found myself focusing on the art build rather than the music. Demy frames most of his shots against backgrounds of more or less solid and striking colors–green walls, blue-stripped wallpaper, unusually painted building. Demy also employs a host of subtle camera angles and techniques. The film is unquestionably as worthy for the eyes as for the ears.

Most members of the cast were unknown to me, except, of course, for the surreally sparkling Catherine Deneuve, who was nineteen during most of the production of the film. She exudes star quality throughout. But none of the performers fails at all in their roles, though none of the others was the budding star that she was. One thing that struck me about all of the characters was that while the chronicle told is essentially a tragic one–or at least a bittersweet one–there are really no poor guys. Marc Michel, for instance, who plays Deneuve’s wealthy suitor Roland Cassard, is a thoroughly likable person, even admirable. She clearly doesn’t worship him, but in no conceivable sense is he a awful person. Nino Castelnuovo’s character Guy Foucher, for whom Deneuve’s Geneviève Emery has asserted she “wait forever” turns out to be an inconstant correspondent, but apart from that he does nothing actively unkind to Geneviève. Geneviève’s mother might push her towards Roland and away from Guy, but she is clearly motivated by a care for of her daughter. The movie could have been subtitled: “A Tragedy with No Villains.” The film is about fancy, but it is sadly not a esteem epic. In a procedure, it deconstructs the kind of romantic myths that dominates the musical genre. This is the anti-Disney version of the possibility of eternal worship.

Mozart’s 1786 opera buffa Le Nozze di Figaro was controversial from the beginning. Napoleon described Beaumarchais’ play – upon which da Ponte based his libretto – as “the Revolution in action.” Although Emperor Joseph gave Mozart his sovereign permission to display the unusual opera in Vienna, imagine the dreadful monarch squirming in his plush box seat as he watched a mere servant outwit a member of the nobility good there on stage. The Emperor may have particularly regretted his decision to allow Mozart to depart when he witnessed the Count kneeling and – to the paralyzed amusement of all – humbly begging his wife for her forgiveness in front of his valet and others of his class. Vienna’s conservative audiences were dull to embrace Figaro but it became a immense hit in Prague which led to a commission for a unusual opera: Don Giovanni.

This production was filmed at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in 2006. The action is updated to post-Revolutionary France in 1830 as a deep ennui afflicts the striving, struggling members of France’s class-ridden society. The Revolution has failed and all of that Enlightenment hopefulness has dissipated. Using oblique lighting to suggest the gradual afternoon sun and the humdrum dying of the day and setting the opera in a decaying villa which – though composed glorious – teeters on the precipice of seediness, Le Nozze di Figaro now unfolds in a world where cynicism has replaced hope and humor is tinged with sadness. The opera’s mood is often more reminiscent of Don Giovanni – described by Mozart as a ‘dramma giocoso’ – than suggesting a frothy opera buffa. One senses that the director has his gaze fixed firmly on our new world even as he portrays one nearly two centuries in the past. The sets are monumental and imposing, looming ominously over the protagonists and emphasizing their vulnerabilty. Mozart’s music helps these characters overcome their environment but we can’t serve feeling that there will be precious exiguous safety in their future.

The singers are all estimable with Erwin Schrott portraying a very strong Figaro and the pleasing Miah Persson embodying an absolutely delicious Susanna. Gerald Finley presents the Count as arrogant and self-absorbed while Dorothea Roschmann sings a truly mournful Countess. The rest of the cast are all sterling and their interaction with the colossal sets is fun to peep. The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House is conducted by Antonio Pappano, who revels in the music’s mammoth beauty while feasting upon the nearly limitless well of creative energy that is the hallmark of Mozart’s immortal accept. The stage direction cannot have been easy and it is usually space on. Only rarely is it marred by visual confusion whenever characters appear to have been swallowed by the extravagant station.

Presented in 16:9 1080i high definition with audio in 2.0 and 5.0 uncompressed PCM, the two blu-ray discs rush for 202 minutes. The high resolution video makes the sets witness graceful, the costumes leer attractive and the singers perceive alive. The audio has comparable clarity with the added spaciousness of 5.0 surround sound providing some breathtaking moments whenever we hear ensemble singing or orchestral crescendos. If you’ve got blu-ray equipment here is an opera that can provide a musical and visual showcase. This production of Figaro is engaging and insightful, and in high definition it offers brilliant beauty to both peer and ear.

Mike Birman

First let me suggest you also peek the reviews under the standard-DVD release of this production.

While it is impossible to say what is the greatest opera ever, “Le Nozze di Figaro” has to be in the running (notable consensus tends to favor “Don Giovanni” as Mozart’s greatest, but I’m not so obvious about that) . In any case “Le Nozze” is hallowed ground for me. It begins with an overture that is a miracle of conciseness, speedily launching us into three hours in which each tuneful delight chases on the heels of another, a virtual non-stop fest of one hit after another! Of course it is a comedy, but it is so worthy more than that–almost an encyclopedia of human nature at its best and worst, and Mozart’s music is the force that drives home all the joy and pathos that mere words and acting cannot; thus the music is so central that one must recognize out the best performance possible, not because Mozart’s music needs it–it can fairly well survive even indifferent renditions, but because it deserves the best. This means that the musical performance has to capture precedence over everything.

In search of the best with which to stock my video opera library I have acquired three different DVDs of this opera. Of those three, this is neither the best nor the worst (avoid the 1973 Glyndebourne Festival Opera production Mozart – Le Nozze di Figaro / Te Kanawa, Cotrubas, von Stade, Luxon, Skram, Fryatt; Pritchard, Glyndebourne Opera, which, in spite of its righteous reviews and all-star cast, is saddled with audio that I found simply unacceptable) . The best was Jean-Pierre Ponnelle’s 1977 movie Mozart – Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro), not a live production on an operatic stage. I knew that there was something missing musically in the other two, and so I felt that I should delve into my library of archaic videotapes in search of an edifying stage version to assist as a standard of comparison. I found the Met’s storied 1985 production, also by Jean-Pierre Ponnelle with Kathleen Battle, James Levine, Carol Van Ness, Ruggiero Raimondi, Thomas Allen, and Frederica von Stade. I also should trace that von Stade appears in the same role in that audio-challenged 1973 Glyndebourne Festival Opera production.

At the risk of prejudicing you against almost all other performances, I recommend your hearing the Met’s production, which you can do on their Website; alas, it is unavailable for choose as a DVD or VHS, as far as I am able to resolve. I was a shrimp surprised to perceive that Levine had not yet honed the Met orchestra into one of the best orchestras in the world (although it was probably the best of all pit orchestras) . The singing, however, is the best I heard of all the versions to which I listened, and the audio, while not colossal, was better than the 1973 Glyndebourne Festival Opera DVD. It is vital to spell out in what scheme they are so great and how they differ from the less successful singers in this novel Covent Garden production. It comes down to these qualities: intensity, strength, fluidity, breath control, and creaminess of hiss in addition to all the usual prerequisites of accuracy, quality of vibrato, and timing, to name a few. The women in the 1985 Met production, as well as in the 1977 Ponnelle movie were simply better in each of those aspects than those of this novel Covent Garden production. On the lustrous side, however, the men of this Covent Garden production are roughly equal to their Met Opera and Ponnelle movie counterparts, and I engage Erwin Schrott’s portrayal of Figaro to that of Raimondi, who seemed a tad menacing at times, even though his singing was certainly both beneficial and formidable. Ultimately the choice between these two Figaros (if DVDs of both were available) is a matter of personal taste.

Now for some more specifics: Except for a supercharged contribution by the tympani, the orchestra proved itself lackluster in the overture. Throughout the opera, however, the pacing was very obliging. There was a runt hint of historically informed “authentic” period performance, which I didn’t obtain obliging, but not objectionable either. Along the same lines, I idea the ornamentation in Rinat Shaham’s “Voi che sapete” was intelligent and in sterling taste.

Miah Persson’s (Susanna) impart lacked sweetness. Erwin Schrott was a elegant Figaro, and both were entirely credible as young lovers. Schrott has a strong, rich baritone, with sterling intonation and control. Both Persson and Shaham needed to have had more sostenuto to avoid choppiness. Gerald Finley was helpful as the Count; and Dorothea Röschmann was very superior as the Countess; their duets proved the most satisfying of the production. The Countess was honest a itsy-bitsy disappointing in “Dove sono,” however. I could search for that the intent was to pause in tempo, but the sound was a minute slack in making it out of her mouth. Marcellina was the weakest of the main characters in the cast. Philip Langridge was a hoot as Don Basilio and sang well, too.

In addition to the quality of the singing, noteworthy of the musical success is definite by the tempi and pacing state by the conductor, who must settle when to let the music dispute and breathe and when to propel it forward, as appropriate to its many moods; nothing turns me off more than a reading that seems merely efficient. Antonio Pappano was not entirely successful in avoiding this pitfall.

Still, this is a pretty production, in terms of staging, video and audio reproduction, and packaging. Although the booklet does not provide a libretto, we are lucky to have any booklet at all–it’s a crime how austerely some opera DVDs are packaged. The Blu-ray record is fine, not only involving & very detailed, but also warm for a straight-to-video recording, almost simulating film but clearer and without grain. This is 1080i, but it is hard to imagine that 1080p could be any better. And all that clarity is well utilized in showing off the stout sets and edifying looks of the cast. Because this is only a very qualified, but not enormous, performance, I recommend it only in this Blu-ray edition, where the visual delight compensates for some of its deficiencies otherwise. As the first or only video of Le Nozze I have to recommend the Bohm/Ponnelle movie with the dream cast and the Vienna Philharmonic.

Just because this is not the best of all performances does not withhold it from being a worthwhile addition to one’s library. As long as a performance operates on this high a level, there are always a few original things safe of our attention, even in the performance; not to mention unusual sets and costumes and grand video & audio reproduction; but I don’t recommend this as a first or only version; and I would be particularly concerned if this were one’s first exposure to this masterpiece: although they would have had an scrumptious experience, they would go away without a clue as to what depths are possible.

Finally a couple of notes on the Blu-ray product itself: I belief I knew every counter-intuitive map the producers of Blu-ray discs had devised to thwart viewers’ attempts to navigate the menus, but this one stumped me; I have yet to figure out how to complete the set-up and go to play the disc; instead, I had to have my player reset everything to its default (English subtitles and 5.1 Surround, which is what English-speaking audiences are most likely to want, anyway) . Mercifully, it does not exhaust the ever-obnoxious Java code that renders so many Blu-ray discs incapable of being resumed at the point you leave off, in the event you resolve not to look the entire disc in a single sitting.

This is one of those movies that will have you reminiscing to your childhood. Well, if you grew up in the 80’s anyway. It is esentially a full-length Nintendo commercial but it’s so noteworthy fun. Fresh-faced Fred Savage is Corey, the brother of Jimmy, a painfully-quiet kid who is secretly a Nintendo prodigy. When Corey learns that Jimmy may rep taken to a home for kids with special needs, he kidnaps his brother and the two go on an adventure to California. Of course, they reach across the unsuitable goon that their mother has hired to bring them relieve and countless thugs who don’t like losing their hard-earned money in a Nintendo hustle. But that’s nothing compared to Jimmy’s cocky arch nemesis, Lucas, the flamboyant Apollo Creed to Jimmy’s Rocky Balboa who owns every Nintendo game in existence as well as the unstoppable Power Glove accessory that allows him to acquire short work of his opposition.

“The Wizard” is about as shameless as commercial films net but it is attractive. Having the top male TV heart throb in a movie that radiant distinguished advertises every Nintendo game ever made at the time is distinct to create a nice amount of bank. Throwing in Christian Slater wasn’t a terrible touch either. This ranks suitable up there with “Just Romance” as his finest performance. The surprise cameo appearance by the never-before-seen “Dapper Mario Bros. 3″ was impressive in its gain true.

I absolutely cherish this movie! It’s true up there with ‘The ‘Burbs’ and ‘The Lost Boys.’ Okay, sue me. I’m a sucker for corny 80’s movies, but can you blame me? I’m not a sincere immense fan of todays over the top special effects…I mean, what are they trying to demonstrate? On another effect, of course this was probably the biggest advertisement Nintendo ever had or ever will have, but you can’t sit there and say you didn’t steal into it. This movie also twisted me onto the song, “Send Me An Angel” by Precise Life. For people who haven’t seen this movie before, I would highly converse that you stare it if you are a fan of 80’s movies. Don’t ask anything too admire out of this, but that’s the fun fragment about it. It’s a big storyline all the same without the glitz and glamour that Hollywood can shove into a movie and develop you go crazy.

Robert Mitchum stars as Wade, the big-shot in his Texas town; he is rich, conceited, a worthy hunter, and a phillanderer. His wife has been holding a grudge against him since they were married. It seems Wade fathered a child, Rafe, (George Peppard) out of wedlock. Wade’s legitimate son, Theron (George Hamilton), is bit of a disappointment to archaic Dad. Add to this mix the young and sparkling Libby (Luana Patton), who likes both Theron and Rafe, and you have a expansive memoir.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Home from the Hill! Click Here

Although Mitchum is wonderfully charismatic, George Peppard emerges as the true star. He is so pretty and inspiring as a rugged man’s man with a tender heart. George Hamilton looks too extinct to play 17-year used Theron, but he is suitably awkward. Exquisite Eleanor Parker is suited as Theron’s mother.

This film is long and melodramatic, but the script is worthy, the actors are all likeable and elegant, the earn is sparkling, and all the loose ends are neatly tied up in the extinguish. Heartily recommended.

This is a movie that reaches to everyone. It deals with pride and a misunderstanding of people. It deals with cherish, heartache, sadness, and loss. Robert Mitchum is the man who lives with a wife who could not be with him because of his bastard son, played by George Peppard. Their beget son, played by George Hamilton, is feeble and soon has a hatred for marriage because of his parents. The only one with a heart is George Peppard. Everyone soon comes to understand one another, but sadly it is too slow. This movie is an worthy one for people who would fair like an feeble fable about the reality of life.

Movie Title: 11:14
Average customer review:

11:14 is available for streaming or downloading.

“11:14″ is writer/director Greg Marcks’ first feature film, and it is a unusual and riveting sight at the randomness of life, and how our lives interconnect amid the chaos of it. Starting with the imaginative titles, it’s keeps one’s interest for all of its 85 tiny length. All the action takes situation on a single night in “Middletown”, which represents any slight USA town, the kind that closes up by 9 PM. Only 10 characters (as well as an overworked policeman and 2 paramedics) are left to originate a region so clever one can contemplate this film several times, and be entertained by it.

Buy,Download, Or Stream 11:14! Click Here

The ensemble cast is unbelievable, with Patrick Swayze (wearing a “paunchy suit” to shroud his athletic physique) as Frank, the father of devious wench Cheri (Rachael Leigh Cook) and husband of Norma (Barbara Hershey) . There is excellent interaction between Buzzy and Duffy, 2 convenience store clerks, superbly played by Hilary Swank and Shawn Hatosy. Others in the pleasing cast include Henry Thomas as Jack, Clark Gregg as the beleaguered cop, and Stark Sands, Colin Hanks, and Ben Foster, as 3 kids out for a night of fun and mayhem.

Filmed on a shoestring in 26 nights in Altadena, California, Marcks was only 24 when he wrote the script, and filmed it a year later. He is very protest, and the advantageous DVD extras include informative commentary by him, as well as a “making of” featurette, deleted scenes (the final one is terrific), and more. The music by Clint Mansell is also stout and adds powerful to the film. Marcks says about the randomness of life that “perhaps there is a larger accomplish…but we’re incapable of seeing it”, and the film is also about choices, whether or not one takes responsibility for those choices, and how they affect other people. Though some may accept this film too bizarre, it is is a intellectual debut for Marcks, and I eagerly gawk forward to seeing his future work.

Buy,Download, Or Stream 11:14! Click Here

Its a shame that I never even heard of this movie except by chance on amazon.com’s list of “best movies you’ve never even heard of” (or something like that) . As I read the list of actors in the film, I was surprised how this one fell through the cracks. It has Henry Thomas, Patrick Swayze, Barbara Hershey, Hilary Swank, Colin Hanks, Rachel Leigh Cook, and the always ample Sean Hatosy. With a cast like that, how did it not glean the kind of media attention that “Shatter” got?

Maybe because it was made by a debut “Generation X” director, Greg Marcks. Like “Donnie Darko” director Richard Kelly before him, Marcks got shafted on the publicity machine. I saw “Rupture” in theaters and really liked it. But for all its clever coincidences, I found the tale quite unbelievably contrived (as the film characters are connected in surprising ways, which takes situation in the tremendous megatropolis of Los Angeles) . When I read the description for “11:14″, it sounded a lot like “Atomize” but came out a year or two earlier. After watching it, let me pronounce you…I have never had such a mind-blowing experience watching a film before. This film had me riveted as I watched how all the fable segments descend into spot. By the demolish of the movie, I was like “whoa!” Vivid, man. Absolutely lustrous!

Like the movie “Demolish”, this one involves a couple car accidents and the ways the people keen are all connected to one another. To deliver any more is to end the film experience. All I can say is that the performances were really expedient. I’ve been a fan of Henry Thomas since “E.T.”, since he is the same age as me and I related to his Elliot character wait on then. He’s a worthy actor who deserves to be in more films. Patrick Swayze in this reminds me of the itsy-bitsy but pivotal role he played in “Donnie Darko”, which leads me to wonder why he’s playing in such minor roles, being directed by Generation X director. Barbara Hershey, another actress I like from the 1980s, seems to reprise her role in the film “Lantana”, but this role is simply too diminutive, but she manages it well. However, I contemplate this film showcases the talents of Sean Hatosy, who is becoming one of my common actors by how well he makes his facial expressions. From “Soldier Girl” to “Faith of My Fathers” to “11:14″, I really hope his career launches into more leading man location or at least a buddy film. He is definitely the actor to sight.

When the final scene occurs and all the pieces plunge together, I was so amazed by its brilliance that I had to examine it again, and then again with the director’s commentary track. This is a film that I would’ve seen in theaters had it been better publicized and distributed. As far as first films go, you can’t fetch better than this. Like director Richard Kelly, I possess Greg Marcks is another one to gape. If you enjoyed “Break” and “Memento”, you’ll probably worship this film as well. And memo to Hollywood…don’t be disturbed to remove risks on unconventional storylines. This movie far exceeds the formulaic action/romantic-comedy/suspense films you dish out to audiences year after year. This film leaves a lasting impression and really blows your mind away with its implication. Its what every viewer wants to experience when they scrutinize a movie.

An genuine, though not exhaustive, gawk at 9/11 and the mountainous holes in the new “theory” achieve forth by the 9/11 commission and the us gov’t on what happened. This is not conspiracy theory – it is a point by point study at the facts.

This is the best documentary on 9/11. Hands down!! If you want to know what REALLY happened, then consume this. The Global Elite have an agenda. World domination. Bilderberg Group, Unique World Order and the Illuminati. Familiarize yourself with these terms. 9/11 was a Fallacious Flag Attack. Project Northwoods. Our United States government cannot be trusted. Thugs-r-us is their credo. They are puppets for the Global Elite. This film will have in all the missing pieces and let you obtain up your maintain mind. I am 99.11 percent certain that 9/11 was an inside job. When you conception this movie I own you too will agree!!

Clear and Point To Pains (1994 film)

The third film in the Jack Ryan series (and the last one to star Harrison Ford) deals with America’s war on drugs and also the abuse of power in high places. As in Clancy’s recent current, the residence hinges on one crucial question: how far can a President go to attain a laudable goal, even if the means horrible lawful, factual and international boundaries?

Buy,Download, Or Stream Clear and Present Danger! Click Here

As in the recent of the same name, the interception of an American-flagged yacht in the Caribbean results in the arrest of two Colombian “sicarios” (hit men) who have murdered the American owner (along with his entire family) . The resulting FBI-CIA investigation reveals that Peter Hardin, the slow yacht owner and personal friend of the U.S. President (Donald Moffat), had extensive ties to the Cali drug cartel. Hardin, as Jack Ryan (Ford) explains, had been skimming millions from his “partners,” thus sealing his fate.

Although Ryan is aware that the President is understandably upset that his gradual friend was a money launderer for the drug lords, he is not aware that the National Security Advisor, Admiral James Cutter (Harris Yulin) and his CIA colleague Bob Ritter (Henry Czerny) have been given off-the-record orders to do “something about the drugs pouring into the country.” When the President declares to Cutter that the drug cartels pose a “obvious and show trouble” to the United States, the somewhat slimy admiral and Ritter unleash several covert operations within the sovereign nation of Colombia.

While Ryan does accumulate orders to go to Bogotá and net out about Hardin’s financial dealings with the Cali Cartel, he is totally unaware that Cutter and Ritter have launched Operation Reciprocity, a clandestine invasion of Colombia by Spanish-speaking special-ops troops. These forces, supervised by ex-CIA field officer John Clark (Willem Dafoe), wreak havoc as they blow up drug labs and smuggling aircraft. Nevertheless, Cutter and Ritter maintain Ryan in the gloomy, and the apt analyst and now acting Deputy Director (Intelligence) unknowingly tells a Senate subcommittee that there are no troop deployments planned for Colombia.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Clear and Present Danger! Click Here

Further complicating Ryan’s life is the sudden discovery that his boss and mentor, Admiral James Greer (James Earl Jones), is dying of cancer. Petite does he know that his ascent to Greer’s job will propel Ryan into the middle of a life and death dwelling in Colombia…and a constitutional crisis at home.

What makes the Jack Ryan books and movies work is not honest the slam-bam action sequences or the glimpses at the mysterious workings of the CIA, but the very opinion that a CIA employee can be portrayed as an pleasurable and decent fellow. Tom Clancy clearly desired to indicate that the agents and analysts who work for the CIA are not the “dusky forces” depicted in films such as “Three Days of the Condor” or “Firefox.” Nor are they martini-swilling, trigger jubilant, bed-hopping super-spies like James Bond. Ford (like Alec Baldwin before him, and like Ben Affleck after) shows Ryan has intelligence, courage, and, above all, integrity.

As in Patriot Games, Ford also shares a few short yet principal scenes with his wife and two children. Ann Archer and Thora Birch returned to play Ryan’s wife Cathy and daughter Sally, giving Ryan that most un-Bond-like sense of family and a tie to the audience.

Although the screenplay by Donald Stewart, Steven Zaillan, and John (Red Dawn) Millius strip the colossal and complex Clancy unusual to its bare essentials and changes many scenes and situations, Ford’s acting and Philip Noyce’s able directing makes Definite and Expose Pains a superb action thriller. Even though as in Patriot Games the ending is rendered in a good-guy vs. bad-guy shootout (whereas in the recent the ending for the villains was more subtle and thereby more chilling), this movie is tranquil worth watching.

The DVD I maintain is Paramount’s first barebones release. Of course, even that is an improvement over the pan-and-scan “stout mask” VHS tape I had previously owned. The movie has been restored to its current Widescreen presentation, given Dolby digital audio in both English and French, Spanish subtitles, English captions, interactive menus, and the theatrical trailer. The newer version has commentary tracks, making-of featurettes, and other extras.

Not only is this a very well-directed and action-packed movie, it also has one of the best surround sound-encoded tracks available on DVD releases. If you have a dolby digital 5.1 surround system, this movie will really overwhelm you. The explosions will shake the ground….a factual theater experience without going to the theater.

I bought several Shirley Temple movies for my kids (2 yrs, 3 yrs, and a blind 15 yr worn) . I was hoping for lots of music, singing & dancing, and was highly disapointed in several of the movies. Of the 10 Temple movies we currently gain, The Cramped Rebel and Curly Top are the only 2 that are getting primitive out from repetitive viewings. The kids cherish this one and so do Dad and I!! While watching this movie, the kids win up and launch dancing all around. I have to re-wind the dance numbers over and over so they can survey them again. In-fact, they have become so fervent in dancing that I bought them tap shoes for their birthday! Stout entertainment for the whole family!

This pleasing Shirley Temple tale is simply wonderful– with lots of songs, dramatic scenes, and dances with Bojangles this VHS is well worth it’s pricetag. If your a fan of Shirley or “The Miniature Colonel” then you’ll appreciate this movie! With the amazing Bojangles(from the The Petite Colonel) and James Bole(Curly Top) you’ll care for this movie.

When Shirley’s mom tragically dies– Shirley’s dad makes the scream never to have his child “leave his arms again” with the serve of a pleasurable yankee Shirley and her dad acquire an attempt to go to Richmond to conclude with an aunt in her home- only dilemma getting through yankee lines. When Shirley and her father are captured. Shirley’s father and the kind yankee are sentanced to execution. The only map to establish them is up to Shirley as she goes to ask Abe Lincoln “You won’t let them demolish my daddy will you.”

A heartful and one of my celebrated Shirley and Civil War movies of all time. This movie shows off all that talent with her dramatic acting ability, lovable songs, and amazing dance scenes with one of the greatest dancers of all time. This movie is a keeper to acquire in your family movie collection. This is a gigantic Civil War sage since it dosn’t really chose either side of the war and it gives a thought that makes you feel in the slay no one wins.
